About Me

Initially, I began maintaining my own bikes because I didn't like waiting for two weeks for annual maintenance. So, I purchased a set of tools and started doing the work myself. However, to offset the costs of the tools, I began offering maintenance services to my friends and neighbors. Fast-forward to today, I offer cheap bike maintenance and repair services. It's not my first or even second career, but I do it because I enjoy it, and I'd rather see people riding bikes instead of being confined indoors because their bike isn't in working condition. It's not about the money for me; it's about supporting a sport that I genuinely enjoy.

I stand behind all my work, and if something is not done correctly or if you'd like your bike adjusted differently, I will gladly rework it free of cost. What's most important to me is that your bike is safe and comfortable for you to ride, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure it is.

My Vision

I aim to offer a convenient and affordable alternative to expensive commercial bike shops, particularly for people who require basic and intermediate-level bicycle repair services. My services are designed to help individuals and families enhance the rideability of their bikes without spending a lot of money on repairs that can be done easily. Additionally, I provide a prompt and reliable service for higher-end bikes, with flexible scheduling options and the ability to fix urgent problems before your next important ride.

Repair Scheduling Notes

Please understand that bike repair is not my full-time job. It's something I do on the side because I enjoy it. However, this does pose some limitations when compared to commercial repair shops. Firstly, I do not have standard business hours or a traditional storefront. Instead, I work on an appointment-only basis from my garage. Secondly, please don't call me; email me at matt@emeraldcycling.com or text 248-525-2829. I usually respond to texts within minutes and emails within hours.  I do not respond to phone calls, sorry.

Finally, I do not have a large inventory of bike parts.
I keep a few commonly-needed items, but I need to order anything else. You're welcome to bring your parts for me to install. I recommend buying parts like seats and handlebar tape on your own and bringing them with you because these items are subject to personal preferences. I'm happy to make recommendations.

That said, I usually complete bike repairs within 24 hours from drop-off and sometimes even the same day under the right conditions. I keep some common repair parts in stock (like tubes, cables, and standard tire sizes) to help achieve this goal. s, which could add a day or two to the repair time. It is unusual for a service to take longer than three days.

Depending on my other commitments, I can usually complete six to ten bikes per week. I ask for your patience and understanding if I need to schedule you for the following week or later, depending on the number of customers in the queue.

If you agree to these expectations, please use the appointment request form on my website or text me directly. I will generally send you within two hours of submission.
