What a Vibe!

Building. Branding. Business.

As the glitter, name tags and learnings all settle, we would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank you to everyone involved with AALARA23 and your part in making AALARA23 the best ever!

AALARA23 showcased some of our most impressive industry professionals, provided the opportunity to share ideas, network and connect, as well as bridging the gap of what has been, where to now, and how we can improve as an industry.

A massive thank you to our AALARA23 sponsors and speakers – without their incredibly generous contribution to AALARA23, all of the awesomeness of our few days on the Gold Coast just would not have been possible, so please support them where you can.

We welcome any suggestions for speakers, sessions or topics for AALARA24, so please feel free to share your thoughts. Your feedback helps us achieve better results and plan even better events for you and the industry – so please click email us with any suggestions you have.

We hope to see you at AALARA24 Conference & Trade Show!

Amusement devices code of Practice 2023

The Honourable Grace Grace, Minister for Education, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing has approved the Amusement Devices Code of Practice 2023. The Code will commence on 1 February 2024.

The Amusement Devices Code of Practice 2023 commences as an approved code of practice under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 on 1 February 2024.

The Code is a practical guide on how to manage health and safety risks associated with an amusement device at a workplace.

The Code has been developed in Queensland and is not a national model code of practice. However, guidance material about amusement devices developed by Safe Work Australia has been adapted and included in the Code.

AALARA welcomes the report from the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman and encourages all members and industry stakeholders to make a contribution during the two week consultation period.

The Ombudsman has supported AALARA’s notion to establish an industry-owned Discretionary Mutual Fund as the most durable and secure pathway forward for our industry, so now we need you to act.

Below is a link to a short survey. It is not complex. It doesn’t ask for complicated historical data. It does however ask you to share your experience of obtaining public liability coverage over the last 24 months.

If not now, when? If not you, who?

Sharing your experience will go a long way to assist us ensure the Federal Government values our amusement, leisure and recreation industry enough, to back us.

We don’t want up to 750% increases in premium costs for our Members. We don’t want instability from our insurance providers. We want a long-term, industry-owned solution that ensures safety for our guests, security for your business and smiles for many more years to come.
