ReplyDeleteIt is uncalled for. It is an attempt by the current ruling regime to revise history while erasing the prior presence of the former ruling regime. I find it disingenouos to the pronouncements and ambitions of our country's constitution.
ReplyDeleteWaste of money, they could be using the money to help the millions of impoverished South Aficans. The name changing of the city and the airport was enough. How does this help the population???

ReplyDeleteCurrently Steve Biko Academic Hospital is without a functioning CT scanner, there is a shortage of many commonly prescribed drugs and often surgeries are canceled due to lack of theatre equipment. There is also a shortage of chemotherapy drugs, causing many people with life threatening cancer to deteriorate to a non treatable stage. At Kalafong Hospital there was a shortage of simple drugs like aspirin and medication for TB. In both of these hospitals the labs are functioning at suboptimal levels because of downsizing the staff. All of these problems are due to non-payment by the state to suppliers and service providers. Both of these hospitals fall within the Tshwane municipality. People literally die because health professionals are not able to provide proper services due to lack of resources and the government now wants to spend millions on name changes... Completely logical.

ReplyDeleteSo pathetic! Just our wonderful government trying to make some kind of point. At least Garmin and TomTom will be making some money off this with people having to buy updated maps. You should see the name changes in Durban, my poor GPS doesn't know whether it's coming or going there!
ReplyDeleteOkay, Let me understand this correct... they(the ANC Municipality of Tshwane) realised they going to lose in the courts due to the huge amount of resistance in changing the name Pretoria. They are now going to give more money to their friends, oops, I mean their lawyers in their fighting of these name changes. In one swoop of their decision they have alienated not one but many cultures, and their history. Who said that this country belong to all South Africans? Oh yes old youth leader Julius Malema. I guess as he is kicked out of the ANC and he does not reflect the party after all. Way to go, ANC. You have distanced yourself very well form the "struggle" and from it's heroes by doing what you want when you want and to whom you want and not truly reflect what the public and constitution of the country demands. Soon we will have the country's name changed to the Democratic Republic of the former Free South Africa. WAY TO GO!!!!

DeleteWho cares about apartheid etc. its in the past.thing is there's an old saying "don't change something thats not broken". Fact of the matter is that it's a waste of money and time, rather spend that money on something like the upkeep of that roads, or on something more important for the city. Like i always say "fiddle, fiddle, f%cked".
Its a wonder that some right wing extremists haven't started bombing the crap out of South Africa yet... Its a disgrace to see how money is spent on idiocracy and corruption whilst millions of people in this country suffer from hunger, HIV/AIDS, poverty, and homelessness. This country is going to be burnt down to dust before its going to get better. And then there's the e-tolling system as well. I wish we had Boondock Saints to take out the mafia that is governing our beloved country.
