  10. Sorry , the guy that was your boss, driving the Nissan was racing the uno, he was not innocent as the news paper showed, take a look at his car, no car would ever look like that without doing 150-180km/ph he was wraped around a pole, and read what eye witnesses say, the Nissan was racing the uno a BMW was not involved in the race he was innocent and nearly got taken out

  11. RIP for all those that have passed on. But please people, get your facts straight before you blog.....
The Nissan was the innocent driver that got taken out, just because he got burned out, doesnt make it his fault. Get it straight!

Marais, who was the co-owner of the Queenswood Spur, was turning into Voortrekkers Road minutes after leaving his Rietfontein home, when the BMW X3 and a red Uno allegedly skipped a red traffic light and crashed into him.
The force of the impact led to the Nissan being wrapped around the lamp post and the engine being torn from the chassis and flung through a nearby shop window. initial investigations showed the accident happened when the BMW X3 changed lanes. She said it was not known what caused the BMW driver to suddenly change lanes.
“What we can say so far is that after finding one of the BMW’s lights wedged into the back left door handle of the Nissan it appears as though the BMW hit the Nissan.
“This is believed to have led to the Nissan driver losing control of his car and crashing into the lamp post

  13. We cannot blame anyone, i like many others have a need for racing but inlike rugby or cricket etc we do not get 100's of sports facilities paid for by the goverment and local councils to play on, Yes there is Tarlton and ODI etc but that is only for the elite few who can afford the exorbitant entry fees and scrutineering regulations. South Africa needs more amateur racing venues. The can close roads for runners, cycle races and even put up barriers for A1 race safty in DBN coz the make money but yet the speed entusiast gets sacraficed and when this happens they point fingers at the drivers, and spectators!!! This type of racing will continue until the autorities act in the apropriate manner, Tar a 1km stretch in 5 cities is minor cost compared to the infrastructer other sport types have, will even encourage informal trade eg, hotdog stands etc. More jobs and much safer ;) But my guess is they gonna spend a few million on meetings on how to clamp down, driving to these meetings in big mercs doing 180kph behind blue lights...

Stuff just makes it worse.. Can everyone just have
Respect for the family's who are hurting and missing a loved one..

  15. You that stay on the corner of ben swart street and voortrekker street, you say you saw the whole thing, PLEASE, what exactly happened. We just need an honest eyewitness to tell us, the family of the Uno driver what happened, as there is so many stories and lies going around, we need to know...

  16. Video footage on Eyewitness' website show clearly that the Nissan was also racing...The truth will eventually come out, as police are watching all the cctv cameras of all the businesses. It is a very short piece, but it shows the pull off, at the bottom of the screen is the Nissan, then a another car and then the UNO, the pulled away at a green robot not a red one, that you can see clearly on the left hand side of the clip... Now I ask, who and what must we as the family of the UNO driver believe. To the Nissan driver's family, we are truly sorry for your loss. This should never have happened. All who took part in that race is to blame. The video does not show the accident, it was to far down.

  17. I feel so sorry for the families. I just wish the people who were drag racing had thought about their families and the possible consequences of their illegal actions. In this case they killed themselves, but they could have killed any of us - including members of their own families. If it should be found that any of those who died were not racing, well, case-in-point.

  18. the real story is on video all the vehicles were traveling down voortekker road the uno and the 350z were racing the bmw was stasionary behind a pickup at the ben swart traffic light when it turned green the pickup took to long to pull away and the bmw then moved out behind him infront of the 350z with the uno following him

  19. All the newspapers was saying how innocent the Nissan driver was, on his way to pick someone up and then going home. How can he have been so innocent if the video clip clearly show him race and eyewitnesses at the scene all say the Nissan was also racing. The Nissan even had nitros and that is what probably made it exsplode like that. On the video clip you cannot see the accident, but you can hear it, brakes and a loud bang, just before the end of the clip.

  21. i also like speed and racing but it was there choice to race anyone can make a wrong choice in live that can take your live don`t gudge them it was wrong and they paid with there lives just be glad no one else got hurt may GOD help all the families that lost people in illigal drag racing

  22. I'm sorry for the families but to be honest I don't see tragedy in this, it is a tragedy if innocent people got hurt. This is a case of recklessness and disregard for other peoples lives. It is not the first fatal collision that occured in Voortrekker Street and on previous occasions innocent people died. When police patrol there the bystanders boo them and some even shout swear words at them i saw this myself. To all you self confessed racers here, wake up and be responsible citizens what happened here was not just a one time thing this is the legacy of your sport. Get a new hobby!

  23. These images look really fatal. I just hope no one was seriously hurt from the accident.

  24. Hey people to the guy who said "RIP for all those that have passed on. But please people, get your facts straight before you blog....."you should get your facts straight,i was there the nissan and the uno was racing,at the robot there was a car standing still the BMW was standing after that car then she wanted to go past the car that was standing still ,just as she turned she taped the nissan .....so get your facts straight ,i dont know where you get your info but you shouldent listen to people that werent even there

  25. Truly frightening. BTW anonymous, nitrous oxide is not flammable. It is merely used to create an increased supply of oxygen within an internal combustion engine. Couple that to an increased volume of fuel injected to maintain the required stoichiometric ratio within the engine and there you have it. More air, more fuel, more power.

That said, anybody running NOS in a road car is more than likely one of these street drag racing loons. I have no sympathy for them, only for the people that they leave behind due to their idiocy.

If you want to race, do it properly. Take it to a drag strip.
