Old Salem Village, North Carolina

A fall stroll through Old Salem Village

I've always loved the late afternoon light in the fall, and Old Salem Village, NC in October provided perfect back drop for that light.

Old Salem Village is located south of Winston Salem, NC near the intersection of Business 40 and U.S. Hwy. 52. Here you will find the Town of Old Salem, The Museum Of Early Southern Decorative Arts (Mesda), the Toy Museum and the Children's Museum.

Old Salem was founded in 1766 by Moravian missionaries, and the Moravian influnece is everywhere. This is a great week-end getaway, with historical buildings, gardens, quaint shops, people in period costumes, wonderful architecture and of course, Moravian cookies and baked goods. I hope to return for the holidays andphotographthe village decked out for Christmas.
