Natural Diarrhea Cures - Home Remedies and Relief

Are you looking for natural diarrhea cures and remedies?

For people who are suffering from diarrhea, it can be frustrating and debilitating. Often, with the flu or food poisoning, when a person has diarrhea, their body is trying to get rid of something that is potentially harmful to it. For this reason, a person may suffer from diarrhea many times before it comes to a stop.

Most of the time, it will run its course and subside, but sometimes, diarrhea needs to be stopped in order to prevent issues like dehydration, as well as to begin to promote healing of the body. It’s at this time that natural diarrhea cures could be considered.

While many over-the-counter medications can stop diarrhea from taking place any more, you could also be stopping your body from doing its job of cleaning itself of whatever is making it sick. This is one major shortcoming of pharmaceutical medicines - temporary symptomatic relief is obtained at the expense of long-term health. It is thus better to try to use more natural home remedies when working to treat and cure diarrhea.

A note about Natural Diarrhea Cures - Home Remedies and Relief

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

Here are some useful tips in implementing a natural diarrhea cure.

  • Make sure to drink plenty of liquids, including fresh juices and pure water, to keep hydrated. Stay away from drinks containing any kind of caffeine, as these can cause dehydration more quickly. Sugary beverages are out, too.

  • Try ginger tea to help ease the cramping that often accompanies diarrhea.

  • Carrot juice and ginger ale have been found to help harden stools, although apple juice has been found to make diarrhea worse.

  • Carrot juice and the juices of green vegetables are useful for replacing the electrolytes which are lost during a bout of diarrhea.

  • Consider a diet of bananas, rice, apples and toast. The mild flavor and absorbent texture can help the body to clean itself out while dealing with diarrhea. You can also eat foods like papaya and cooked potatoes, but stay away from heavily seasoned or spicy foods.

  • For some, high fiber foods may cause a worsening of symptoms, so do tread carefully there.

  • Avoid dairy products, as these can worsen the cramping and diarrhea; in trying to find natural diarrhea cures, what you do not eat is as important as what you do.

  • For people who are suffering from chronic diarrhea, it’s important to replace the “flora” or good bacteria in the intestines with probiotics. This not only helps to combat the bacteria which might be causing the ailment, but also helps to improve the immune system.

  • Other diarrhea cures and remedies include taking one tablespoon of honey with water daily; making a mixture of lemon juice, ginger juice and pepper; and taking a dose of roasted fennel and white cumin seeds every few hours.

Often, when a person is suffering from diarrhea, it’s important to give it some time to see if he or she is suffering from a virus or bacteria that is affecting the body. The same is true in cases of food poisoning; it’s a good idea to treat the symptoms and then give it a couple of days to see if the condition will subside on its own. Often, by making sure that the person with diarrhea is well hydrated and consumes only mild foods, the ailment will run the necessary course within a few days.

In extreme cases, or in children, it is more important to monitor the duration of the symptoms and work harder to effect a diarrhea cure, so as to ensure that serious dehydration does not occur. If, at any time, you suspect that dehydration has already occurred or is going to take place and you cannot prevent it or properly treat the diarrhea, then you should consult a healthcare provider.
