Extract and create TGZ files with Alpha ZIP.

What is a TGZ file? TGZ is a combination of tar and gz. A tgz file is the same as a .tar.gz file, sometimes also called a tar ball. A number of different files are combined together into an archive first, which is a tar file. This file is then compressed with the gzip algorithm, resulting in the final .tgz. If you are using Windows 98, 2000 or XP, you will need a utility that can create and extract these tgz files. You may even need 2 different utilities - unless you are using Alpha ZIP.

Alpha ZIP is the user-friendly compression tool which can both extract and create tgz files. This powerful tgz extractor and compressor can also handle a vast number of other compressed formats, and thanks to its unique level of Windows integration it enables you to do more in less time. In fact, you can just select a number of files in Windows Explorer, right-click on them, and select "Compress into .tgz" from the menu that pops up. The tgz file will be created in one pass, instead of having to create the tar first and then the tgz.

As well as extracting and creating TGZ files, Alpha ZIP works with 7-zip, cab, gzip, jar, tar, rar and more. With an intuitive interface, handy email integration and easy file conversion between formats, this compression tool is the solution you're looking for.
