Gianni Brumatti (Trieste 1901 - 1990)

Brumatti attends the classical studies high school at first in Trieste and later in Gorizia.

In 1915, when he comes back to the Julian city, he enroles himself in the “Little Industries Institute”.

During the period when he works as assistant stage designer at the Fenice of Venice and the Rossetti Theatre of Trieste, he succeds in learning painting with Wostry and Zangrando. Then, he enters the Chief of Art School to complete his education.

Landscape attracts the Brumatti’s attention at once.

He reconsiders the local impressionist lesson (Veruda, Flumiani and Grimani), getting used to the Expressionism too.

He executes some decorations with Santo Bidoli and works as printing and engraving expert with the Cosulich and Lloyd navigation society.

Brumatti is present at the Fascist Union of fine arts exhibitions and many of other national and international shows.

It is worth remembering the 1934-36-38 Biennal of Venice and the 1951-55 Roman Quadrennial.
