Academia Catavencu and Catavencii, 2 titles that prepare for battle on Romanian market

Catavencii weekly, that will be launched on Wednesdday by Adevărul Holding and the former team from Academia Catavencu, will appear on the market in 16 pages and will be sold for Ron 2.5

According to a press release, the weekly will be made by the same team that produced Academia Catavencu, the most appreciated political satire publication, for 20 years.

The team of the new Catavencii is also including Mircea Dinescu, that will have a weekly column in the newspaper.

Catavencii will appear in 16 pages and will cost RON 2.5. The editorial team includes “veterans” such as Octav Mardale, Doru Buscu, Patrick Andre de Hillerin, Eugen Istodor, Viorel Motoc, Florin Iaru, but also names such as Stefan Agopian, Cristian Teodorescu, Cornel Ivanciuc, Ion Barbu, Ioan Grosan, Alin Ionescu, Simona Tache, Dragos Vasile, Mihai Radu and Bogdan Petry.

The launch of the new magazine is accompanied by a promotional campaign that includes a TV spot signed by  Odyssey

Previous to the new magazine announcement, Doru Buscu, editorial director of Academia Catavencu, wrote, in a recent column on www.catavencu.ro, that, after the brand was taken over by Adamescu family (owner of Romania Libera), the people from Catavencu don’t stop and continue going on their way.

Academia Catavencu brand was brought by Romania Libera for almost Euro 900,000.

Medien Holding announced, on Monday, that it brought Academia Catavencu and that will offer it financial and logistical support. In the same time, it announced that Academia Catavencu has a new editor in chief, the writer Denis Dinulescu.

Dinulescu said the magazine will appear on the market as usual, on Wednesday, and will be “happier and younger”

According to him, Academia Catavencu in the new formula has a 10 people team, including  Paul Vinicius, deputy editor in chief.

The new team from Academia Catavencu is based in the same headquarters with Romania Libera.
