South African Animal Pictures

Ian Lance Taylor

These photographs were taken on a trip I made to South Africa and neighboring countries in April and May, 1995. The pictures were all taken with a simple 35mm SLR (a Pentax P30) with no telephoto lens. They were taken through the open window of a car (you don't want to get out of your car near these animals!).

All of the pictures except the rhinoceros were taken at the Kruger Park in northeast South Africa. The rhinoceros picture was taken at the Mkhaya Game Reserve in Swaziland.

The experience of seeing these animals in the wild is wholly different from seeing them in a zoo. Visit these places if you can.
